It’s been forever since I wrote a good travel post. With lockdown restrictions ending and the world getting back to normal we finally used our buy a gift voucher we had for axe throwing! Although it was supposed to be for our first year wedding anniversary we had to wait a little longer, it was however well worth the wait!
Our Buy a Gift was with Arcadia Activities in Somerset and I can’t recommend them enough. The instructor Chris was amazing, everything was explained and it was 110% a session packed full of fun! Let’s break it all down though and let me tell you what you’re going to get.
Where Is Arcadia Axe Throwing?
So if you’re looking for Somerset axe throwing, this is the place to go. It’s a little off the beaten track and that’s one thing I loved about the area. There’s not some busy shopping centre next door with loads of people present watching me miss a target!
The field is big, there’s loads of room to run around and it ensures everything is safe and secure, you won’t be hitting anyone with an axe by accident! It’s an easy location to find and on a sunny day, a great place to hang out!
Why Do Axe Throwing?
So axe throwing in my opinion is amazing and actually comes with a lot of health benefits that I’d never thought about before. I thought doing UK axe throwing was just going to be a laugh and that’s it. However being outside, especially after the last couple of years we’ve had is empowering and quite literally a breath of fresh air!
So not only are you stood around throwing axes for a few hours but you’re also working them muscles! I was bending over picking things up, streching and lunging to throw the axes and throwing them axes meant my bingo wings got one of the best workouts in a long time!
Taking the health benefits out of the equation, it’s so much fun it’s unreal! When you hit that target and use different tools to achieve your goal, it feels amazing, it’s so much fun and exhilarating. I feel that everyone should go axe throwing at least once in their life, or you’ve not lived!

So there are some axe throwing companies in the UK, none like Arcadia Activities though. The atmosphere was amazing, I had a fear that axe throwing in the UK meant that it was going to be a very manly sport, people would be tough, rough and intimidating but that was not the case at all!
Chris who runs the show was a true gent, talked through everything and made sure we knew what we were doing. Axe throwing family day out might not sound like the “norm” but trust me, it would be great for famalies! I mean we went for our wedding anniversary after all even if a little late.
I had never heard of Arcadia Activities before or Arcadia axe throwing but I’m glad I have, their prices are really competitive compared to other companies in the UK, you can buy direct on their website and it’s all hassle free. Quite frankly, I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
I will also say they have all areas covered, even if it’s raining they have an indoor area so you can carry on throwing axes and not get soaked! Although throwing axes in the rain does feel like something from a war movie and I’d be up for trying it!
What Else Can You Do At Arcadia Activities Taunton
So Arcadia aren’t just a one trick pony unlike other companies that will only specialise in one field. In fact they do so much more and have plans to expand even further so you know you’re going to want to go back and see how much they’ve grown, we will be.
Arcadia archery is also a huge part of their overal ethos. I want to go back just to do some good ole fashion Taunton Archery! They have hunger game inspired events where you’re stocked with foam arrows and have to get the other team, you better race to get your ammo though! When we visited to do axe throwing, it was my first time firing a bow so that was wicked and totally unexpected!

If you get the chance to visit and explore everything that the Arcadia Activities team have to offer, totally do it! It was one of the best times I’ve had in a long time and after the continuous lockdowns, well that’s exactly what anyone needs isn’t it!
