While in Amsterdam we wanted to get the most use out of our iamsterdam cards, we looked for some free Amsterdam attractions that we could use our iamsterdam card with and found that the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam was free with the card, we both have a thing for modern art and decided to take a look and see what it was all about.
I will start off by saying that the stedelijk museum in Amsterdam is huge, it’s not one of the smaller museums so you will need a good few hours to get round it all and apperciate all the art work that’s inside.
Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam Location
The stedelijk museum is located in the museum quarter along with a couple other Amsterdam museums such as the Amsterdam diamond museum, which is a nice bite size museum compared the the stedelijk museum. There’s a few restaurants and cafes about as well, other than the one in the museum so you can grab a bite to eat or drink before the museum or after and really make an Amsterdam day trip out of it. “Museumplein 10, 1071 DJ Amsterdam, Netherlands”
The Exhibit
The stedelijk museum has so much to offer it’s amazing and really good value. The museum has art work from Maria Lassing, Pinball Wizard and so many other creators it would take days to go through them all. Some of the pieces are outrageous and out there while others are more bespoke and subtle. The museum even has a games room filled with pinball machines, captivating the imagiantion of all ages.

The museum also have listining devices that you can use on your tour around the museum, this is pretty high tech compared to most of the Amsterdam museums I’ve visited. You can point your device towards a selected area on the wall and it will tell you about the art work on display, perfect if you’re on your own visiting Amsterdam attractions and want another point of view!

Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam Facilities
The Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam disabled access was perfect, they had ramps and lifts so that the museum could accomadate as many people as possible. The Stedelijk Museum also had a bag check which you’re required to use and it’s free. The gift shop was really nice, the staff were really helpful and the toilets clean. The Stedelijk Museum facilities had no faults they we could find and it’s a really nice, clean museum.

Conclusion
Really impressed with this Amsterdam museum, if you are wondering what museums are in Museumplein Amsterdam this has to be one you visit for sure, the art is so out there and there’s something for everyone. I know some people might think that €18,50 might be a little expensive but you’re getting multiple hours from this one museum and some of the pieces are eye opening to say the least, as you can see from the piece created by Damien Hurst above, showcasing rubbish from a hospital over a short period of time filling a huge container!
